The multi-pitch climbing course takes place in the Tarn and Jonte gorges over 3 days in the Causses and Cévennes. The objective of the course is to bring the trainees to acquire the basic knowledge to evolve in safety on large routes of several lengths with or without abseiling, and by roped of 2 or 3 climbers. Not to mention the pleasure of climbing beautiful multi-pitch routes in the Jonte gorges!

This course is intended for climbers with a level of 5b in cliffs or more. Depending on the level of practice of the participants, the objectives may be enriched.

For reasons of safety and quality of learning, the number of participants is limited to 4 people per instructor. The course is maintained from 3 people.

The reception of participants takes place on Friday October 30 at 9 am in the village of Le Rozier, at the entrance to the gorges de la Jonte. The first day will be on a cliff of a length in order to see the techniques necessary for the multi-pitch route and the level of each. The next two days will take place on multi-pitch routes.

Program :
* Discovery of specific multi-pitch climbing equipment
* Self-assured abseiling: presentation of rappelling ropes and the installation of self-locking knots: Machar, French ...
* Multi-pitch climbing:

- information gathering (topos, weather forecast, access ...)

- communication between climbers

- build a relay (triangulation, distribution of forces, impact force, fall factor, etc.)

- ensure and progress in safety

- tips and tricks (rope management, anticipation of following lengths, friction, pulling)

- aid to the second

* Réchap (making a U-turn on a multi-pitch route): useful equipment, rechap maneuver on the wall and self-insurance on the descent
* Safety: accidentology, managing an accident, assistance to the injured (leader or relay), first aid
